Essay Assignment

The topic of criminal justice reform is being discussed widely these days.  Even President Obama has offered his opinion on how the criminal justice system can be imporved.  Please read the recent New York Times article entitled "Police leaders join call to cut prison rosters" and then write an essay that must include the following:

* Whether you agree with police chiefs and explain why or why not

* Discuss your own concerns about the criminal justice system and offer your own ideas on how to effectuats meaningful reform.

2-3 pages, double spaced Times new roman 12 pt font.  No references are required, just coherent, well organized presentation of ideas on how to improve the criminal justice system.
