·      ESSAY TOPIC:   Choose an internet-related issue or problem that is of interest to you. Using reliable sources and appropriate examples, write a persuasive essay in which you carefully explain and analyze the issue. Then present some proposals that may help to reduce the problem.

REQUIREMENTS:

1.    Your essay should be 3-5 pages, typed and double-spaced.

2.    Your essay should include a thoughtful thesis statement or thesis question.

3.    In your essay you should use at least four sources.  At least TWO of these sources must be written articles from reliable databases, websites, newspapers, or journals.  In addition, you may use any of the essays that we have read in our textbooks—New Voices & Reading Pop Culture.

4.    Within the essay, cite all page numbers for quotes and examples that you mention in the text. Use MLA format. For information on MLA, refer to:

5.    Remember to consider opposing viewpoints and refute these conflicting views.

6.    Provide a Works Cited at the end of the paper.  Use MLA format.  For information on MLA, refer to:

7.    Give your essay a suitable title.

8.    Your first draft will be discussed in a group workshop on: ………………….

       Please bring copies for all members of your group.

9.    Your second draft will be discussed in a workshop on: ……………………..

 Bring copies for your group to.  Also, be sure to bring one copy of your first draft.

10. You are required to meet with an SI leader or tutor at least once to discuss this essay before you hand in the third draft. I will need proof of this meeting.  If you meet with a Writing Lab. tutor or SI leader a second time, you will receive extra credit.  I will need proof of this second meeting.

11.  Hand in the first and third drafts of this essay on: ………………………..

·      Make sure that you highlight all the changes you have made ON THE THIRD DRAFT.

·      Also hand in a copy of the Grading Grid for this essay (posted on Moodle).
