Nebraska, unlike most of Springsteen’s other songs, is uncharacteristically dark and flat emotionally. Read the lyrics and listen to the song. Why does Springsteen choose to write and sing the song this way? Do the lyrics evoke the plains of Nebraska? What are the emotions and ideas that he wants to convey? How does he do this?
