Environmental History discussion for Creative instructor
Discuss the following question, write about 250 words.
Thus far in the course, we have read about how precious the wilderness or nature is held in theory. But what is the reality? Just one example is that during the controversy over atmospheric nuclear weapons tests, radioactive fallout from the atmosphere left irrevocable changes to the earth. A recent radio on NPR in March discusses more about this.
At the time, it was known the fallout threatened genetic damage to human and animal descendants. Others argued that this was just another risk in an inherently risk-oriented society, no different that driving a car--except that the risk was far less for fallout than for driving. Can you take a position on this issue yourself?
