Literary Analysis and Critical reception: review The Little Prince and critical responses and consider the following questions. Write out your answers—your total page length will probably be about two to no more than three pages in length.

·       Consider the different characters the Little Prince encounters on his travels from planet to planet. How does Saint-Exupery offer a contrast between the adult characters and the Little Prince? Offer examples (quotations) from the text to flesh out your answer.

·       Describe the role of the narrator in the story. How is like and unlike the Little Prince?  Though he is an “adult,” how is he different from many of the adults and adult experiences described? Use relevant citations from the text to complete your answer.

·       Describe the Fox’s lessons. What are they, how are they connected, and how are they learned by both the narrator and the Little Prince.

·       Discuss the Rose in The Little Prince. What does it/she symbolize? Select two quotes about the rose and discuss them considering how they are critical to the development of the Little Prince, the novel as a whole, theme, or other literary elements.

·       Discuss the role of education or instruction in the novel. Who teaches and who learns? What points seem to be made about education or learning? Use quotations from the text to illustrate your ideas.

·       And the snake. What seems to be the symbolic value of the snake?

·       Read “The Big Lesson of The Little Prince: (Re) Capture the Creativity of Childhood.” What seems to be the blog’s main point? What connections did the writer make with your reading of The Little Prince and other works we have read this semester?

·       In your reading of the New York Times essay, “The Strange Triumph of The Little Prince,” what two points seem particularly relevant to your understanding of the novel?
