English Essay

Instructions:  To get a better sense of everyone’s skill level, please write a brief, 500-word essay on the following topic:

What do you use your cell phone for most frequently?  What does your phone mean to you, both as a practical tool and, potentially, as an extension of yourself into the actual and virtual world? 

Is your reliance on technology a good or bad thing?  (Or is this not an either/or issue?)

Format:  All of our assignments this term will follow the same format:

·       All assignments should be written in Word format (or .rtf, rich text format). 

·       Double space your work

·       On the left-hand top of all assignments, include:

Instructor

Date

Assignment (in this case:  Diagnostic writing)

Reminders:  These should be your own thoughts, of course.  There is no need for any research. 

As with all of our assignments, all paraphrase (i.e., rephrasing source material) must be documented.  Without documentation, this is plagiarism, as is cutting and pasting material from the internet. 

All papers will be screen for plagiarism via Blackboard.  Any instances in plagiarism will result in an F for the assignment without an opportunity for rewriting.
