Weekly tasks or assignments (Individual Projects) will be due by Monday and late submissions will be assigned a late penalty in accordance with the late penalty policy found in the syllabus. NOTE: All submission posting times are based on midnight Central Time.

Task Assignment

For the next 3 weeks, you will be working on a single essay. In this essay, you will select a topic and consider your position. This Individual Project will take you through the process of collecting information to be presented in final form in your Phase 5 Individual Project.

1. Choose 1 topic from the following list that you are interested in writing about:
   • Privacy
   • Climate Change
   • Sustainability
   • Technology
   • Social Media
   • Advertising and the Media
   • Globalization
2. Formulate a research question to help you narrow your topic by asking yourself: What are the possible perspectives on the issue, and what is my position?
   • Performing research helps you to narrow your topic and find outside sources that will support your position.
3. Once you have decided on your position, complete this template including the following:
• Introduction
• Attention-getter
• Thesis statement
• First supporting paragraph(s)
• Topic sentence
• Supporting details
• Second supporting paragraph(s)
• Topic sentence
• Supporting details
• Conclusion
• Reference page using APA format that includes 2–4 sources
• Double-spaced using 12 point, Times New Roman font

Argument Essay Outline Template

I.    Introduction: (1 paragraph introducing the argument; can be related to the workplace, school, and so on)

1. Attention-getter: Could be a statistic or fact, quote, and so on that describes the topic and leads the reader to the thesis statement
2. Thesis statement: A 1-sentence statement that specifies your position on the argument.

II.    Body Paragraph(s): Section 1: Support for your position (1–2 paragraphs)

1. Topic sentence: A sentence explaining 1 supportive idea for your thesis statement
2. Which details and examples will you use?
3. Identify at least 1 source that supports this detail or example.
1. Use APA format, and place your source on the Reference page.
2. Explain why this source is appropriate to use to support your position.

II.    Body Paragraph(s): Section 2: Support for your position (1–2 paragraphs)
