ENGL21---DB14----at least 250 words
In Chapter 18, we finally get to answer one of the most pressing questions of this textbook as well as this course: what is poetry? For this final discussion board, I want you to take some time to consider what you currently believe poetry is.
First, read some of the definitions by other famous poets (pp. 328-329). Choose one that you like, and read a few of that author's writings and poems. What do you find?
(I found W.H. Auden's definition of poetry, which was "The clear expression of mixed feelings.")
The second component of this discussion board is to interview someone in your life about poetry. Ask this person what he or she believes poetry is, and share with this person something that you have learned. Post your findings here.
Last, see if you can find the right words to define what you believe poetry is. Post your working (or in progress) definition here. Make sure to read what your classmates write, and respond to what they say.
