DETAILS: You have been assigned one of the jurors who will hear the case against the defendant. Based on what we’ve read and discussed so far this semester, please use the worksheet to detail a few of the various critical thinking concepts that your juror uses in the film. Identify the concepts as shown in the film and discuss how or why the juror is using them. Give 3 examples (minimum) for each concept. Please fill out the sheet below as completely as possible as you watch the film. The worksheet will be placed on MOODLE if you wish to make an additional copy. Do not submit the worksheet with the final essay; it is for your personal use.
ALL basic parts of the essay must be included: intro paragraph, thesis statement, topic sentences, body paras, and a summarizing conclusion that may address what you’ve learned by analyzing the film.
SUBMIT final essay to TURNITIN in typed MLA PDF form. (3 FULL pages minimum; 4 pages maximum). Use the worksheet to gather information to write the actual essay. ALL concepts that appear on the worksheet must be addressed on the form and in the essay. A minimum of three (3) examples must be identified and discussed for each concept. You may include quotes from the film if you wish, but DO NOT INCLUDE A WORKS CITED PAGE.
FILM SYNOPSIS: “Eleven jurors are convinced that the defendant is guilty of murder. The twelfth has no doubt of his innocence. How can this one man steer the others toward the same conclusion? It’s a case of seemingly overwhelming evidence against a teenager accused of killing his father in “one of the best pictures ever made” (The Hollywood Reporter).
You have been assigned: JUROR # ____ (All responses should pertain to this juror as much as possible – see the pictures below to find your juror.)
(The majority of your notes should pertain primarily to your assigned juror; however, it is acceptable to include a few general comments in each category, as well)
