Creating a Research Plan

Imagine that you have been assigned to write about a controversial issue in a research-based essay. In this
lab, you will create a research plan based on your chosen issue. After creating a title page in APA format,
write the following in a bulleted list:
Research question
Working thesis
Results of start-up research

Description of available sources

Devise a research question, develop a working thesis, and discuss the results of start-up research. Identify
what types of sources you were able to find on your topic. Include a reference page with five sources in APA
format.
Submission Requirements:
Submit the research plan in a Microsoft Word document with the following specifications:
Font: Arial, 12-point

Spacing: Double
Style: APA format with a title page and header
Length: 2‒3 pages (excluding the title and references pages)

Note: You will have two attempts to work on this assessment. The instructor will issue a grade on the first
draft submission. After receiving comments and feedback from your instructor, you have the option to
revise the lab and submit for regrading. If a second attempt is not submitted, the grade for the first attempt
will be scored as the final grade for the assessment.
Evaluation Criteria:
Your submission will be evaluated against the following criteria using the lab rubric:
Did you include the title page?
Did you include each of the following elements in the bulleted list: research question, working
thesis, results of start-up research, and description of sources?
Are your references credible, academic, and appropriate for a research-based essay?

Is an APA-formatted references page containing five sources included?
