- This essay must be your own work! Aside from assistance at one of the campus writing labs, you may NOT get aid in composing/editing your essay. If your voice suddenly changes on this essay, you will fail the course. No exceptions.
- REFER TO THE RUBRIC FOR THE GRADING SCALE!
- Length: 3-4 pages (not counting Works Cited page)
- Sources: At least two sources must be utilized and cited in your essay.
- MLA format required (and this includes the Works Cited page)
- Must have an interesting title, not a DBOT (Dull, Boring Old Title)
- Research FIRST. Discover what others are saying about the topic you chose.
- Your research must include what the opposition would say (need at least two sources)
- You may (and should!) begin with a backstory (narrative) about your argument (this can be added after you've outlined the points you wish to make).
- You must state what the argument is.
- You must state, briefly, your position.
- You must discuss the opposition’s position.
- Then, you argue, point-by-point, the opposition.
- Give examples.
- Give details (remember RENNS!).
