Electric Vehicle Charging Station

If we are going to be charging electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, we need to know some of the electronics behind how this is done, at least at the system level. I would like you to put together a summary of an electric car charging system, specifically, what is between the grid and the battery. How is the SAE J1772 Electric Vehicle Charging Standard used to coordinate the operation of the Electric Vehicle Charging Station (EVCS) and the vehicle battery through the J1772 connector. I expect this will be a multi-page report, with 1.5 line spacing, 1" margins, 12 pt font. IEEE format should be used for figures, tables and references.
