Introduction - state the topic, give a brief description of Gardner's theory and his intelligences, state your opinion on the topic - do you agree with his theory? Why?

Paragraph 2 - discuss the 9th intelligence in detail including Gardner's own ideas on this intelligence - what was Gardner's final verdict on this particular intelligence? What is are your thoughts on this intelligence? In the material you have read how do other psychologists or clergy members feel about this intelligence?

Paragraph 3 - discuss the education community reaction to Gardner's theory and if they have/have not accepted and why/why not? Do you think the education community should make more effort to get Gardner's theory in the classroom at any or all levels? Are there any schools that have successfully implemented this?

Paragraph 4  - discuss psychologist reactions to Gardner's theory and if they have/have not accepted and why/why not? In particular discuss the issue of testing intelligence. Conclusion – sum up your main ideas.

Read your textbooks brief discussion of this topic on pages 367 – 369. Your challenge is to logically and coherently support or reject Gardner’s concept of multiple intelligences. You’ll note in your initial research that Gardner’s ideas have been quite influential on education. Therefore, it’s very important to discuss this in your paper – mainly in the context of addressing different learning styles. That fact doesn’t require you to support Gardner’s theory. You can either support or reject Gardner’s theory, even as you point out in limitations.

Any of these sites should help you extend your research. Visit the first to online resources, which discuss the multiple intelligences ideas of Howard Gardner. Compare what you find on the site – and especially the proposed ninth intelligence – called existential intelligence in one case and existentialist in the other. (Your textbook sticks with the standard eight intelligences.) You’ll want to consider this ninth kind of intelligent when you take a stand for or against Gardner’s model. Then, visit the Wikipedia article. This will give you a broader view of ideas about Gardner’s theory.
