Education options feedback to my two peers below. This is not essay ( due today @ Hawaii time 5pm)

Montessori style of learning has had a huge impact on how children learn and developing a platform on how they want to learn. There has been controversy around the schools popularity and that children need more structure like the traditional ways of learning. Children should not be able to dictate on how they learn, they will follow specific educational guidelines so they are meeting the wickets that the education system feels that the children should be at certain points of their development.

            Montessori schools have proven to be great for the development of children and almost work like other successful businesses.  Google uses a similar outline for the growth of their employees. It’s called the sprint method and it allows groups in Google to use the Montessori concept to solve problems inside their company, to have this free mind growth experience of optimum production. These methods allow the child to pick what he wants to do to drive the child to want to learn. I hated school growing up because I was weak in some areas and strong in others. If I was able to focus more on my strengths and made to understand that I need to learn my weak areas on my terms with guidance from a teacher, I believe I would have been more successful as a student. The draw back to this behavior is the child is great at Math and never wanted to try English. This can become an issue if not treated in a certain way and help the child understand why they need certain skills to be successful. That’s where I feel school systems lack the understanding on how every child is different and focusing on their talents will allow the child to live to their potential and children will not grow up thinking that school just wasn’t their thing.

            Traditional schools are great for people that are just good at school. My friend’s thought that school was easy and could be successful in any class, it’s a great set up. The design allows the child to be successful in every area of the curriculum. They grow in all aspects of the educational system and never feel the burden of children that don’t fit that specific mold. The draw back to this program is just that, there needs to be a system in place where people that don’t fit the mold can feel that they have some strength. I was a child that never felt I had any strength in the traditional school system. I felt like I was never growing as a person and feeling like I was in a free fall. We need to look at different options that benefit everyone.

Hello All, The Montessori Method was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori in 1907. It is a specific child centered method of education that involves child led activities, which are referred to as work, and classrooms with children of varying ages and teachers who encourage independence among their students. Dr. Montessori believed that children learn better when they are choosing what to learn. A Montessori classroom is very different than a traditional one, there are some things which make the Montessori class unique like various activity stations for children to choose from throughout the day, up to 30 students of various ages interacting, teachers guiding children through activities instead of standing in the front of the classroom teaching at them, and a nontraditional grading system. Benefits of Montessori Method: Children learn independence Children learn at their own pace Multiage classrooms help students learn from and support one another Drawbacks of the Montessori Method: Teachers may have trouble letting students pick their own activities Some students may not deal well with the lack of traditional classroom structure Students may have difficulty transitioning to a traditional classroom later Benefits of Traditional Schooling: Structured learning environment There is a set core curriculum Strictly defined by chronological age within a twelve month period  Drawbacks of Traditional Schooling Time limitations are mandated by arbitrary schedules The pace and order of each lesson is predetermined Children learn because it is mandatory Both forms of education meet the developmental domains but in different settings. Montessori method changes on a day to day basis due to what the child wants to learn or work on that day. Traditional method is concrete with a planned process for the learning and with what you will learn on a day to day basis from a planned curriculum. I think having a structured learning plan is the best for children it does not leave it open for "I don't want to learn that today", traditional goes over and over the same subject almost like repetitive in style. I think children learn better in math and writing and reading with the repetitive action. This way they won't forget what they did last time and have to go back to the beginning to get better understanding as they would in the Montessori method. Reference Mossler, R.
