This is a good time for you to reflect upon your education . . . think about elementary as well as middle or junior high school and then high school. Think of what you were taught, how you were taught, the teachers you had as well as the other professional educators you came in contact with . . . how you liked school (or not) and why. Compare and contrast this with what you read for this week. Then, write and submit a reflection paper that identifies four separate insights you have gained by viewing American education, as you know it from your experience, from the perspective of the world history of education you have studied. This requires you to 1) think about your own experience within the K-12 system, and 2) relate what is now what you have learned about the historical precedents (eastern and western civilizations) of education. Draw specific comparisons between what was, and is still reflected in belief and practice today and what is different. Assignment should be supported with specific references to the textbook and should be 1 ½ to 2 pages in length. Chapters 1 and 2
