Mechanical Engineering

Engineering is a branch of mathematics that studies the geometric abstract shapes to find the mathematic relationships between its elements and applied engineering. Also, the knowledge of physics is to find the solutions and to apple it to in different branches of science and practical life. Engineering contain several branches of engineering depend on the deepening side of specialization; from the most important engineering Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Architecture Engineering. All of them are linked to the same basic subjects Math and Science, at the two first years they are all going to study the same subjects as introduction for engineering. All levels of math are required with science subjects such as Physics, Chemistry and Biology for all of them. Therefore, we can say engineers are problem solvers; they are the only way to solve our daily problem which is in our technological world because everything we are using today is sophisticated from an engineering standpoint. Engineering contain several benefits that catch our attentions and its only need a good back ground of math and science subject and being good at it and being aware about the academic requirement to have all the benefits.

From the morning we wake up from our alarm, and switch the electrical light on, open the door which is by enforced by the gear set to spin and move with the other gear until they open the door and close it. Water supply is within a second in our own house by open water faucet to allow the water to flow which is designed in a comfortable and easy way. Engineering had been inventing all these things and presently they are controlling our lives from the beginning to the end as it deals with everything. That is what is interesting about this major we live with, without noticing.

Each major has his own benefit and mechanical engineering has a lot of assets beginning with the application knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering problems. There is a research saying that when the person graduates as a mechanical engineer he will be completely prepaid to teach math class because he studied all math levels and he is ready. While studying Engineering student will learn a lot about machines as how the car move, how the conditions cooled the air, and how robots walk. They will have the apparently to see what is inside these machines and put them hands on it and make it work. Also, talk to others who enjoy doing these things and give the new students some tips about the major. Expand the knowledge from solving math problems while having fun doing it. After getting all the requirement information and experience and be at the end of Mechanical Engineering path to graduate, the most important benefit will be ready in front of you the job. The special thing about being a Mechanical engineer is that we are easily applying in all companies because all of them needs mechanical engineers to work with them. It includes all disciplines oil companies, electrical companies, computer companies, and all other companies are interested in taking one of us. It regulates under engineering so it has a very good salary about five thousand dollars monthly. All these benefits are easy to get when you start doing what the major needs.

Mechanical engineering does five things to let us get the benefits of the major. First, the product design which is developing products ranging from biomedical devices gasoline-powered engines. Second, research and development which is discovering new solutions to human needs or improving older methods. Third, manufacturing which develop the machines that process materials into products; designing and building machines and system of machines that improve operating efficiency is of prime importance. Fourth, systems management overseeing operation of a large system, such as a power plant, as well as supervising the people who work there. Lastly, energy planning of how energy is generated, stored, and moved.

Mechanical engineer needs to acquire particular requirement according to Greta Polite adviser for Mechanical engineer in CECS Student Services Center/EOP she said student must have strong math skills and enjoy math and science to entire the major.  So for how want to apply for the major must have a strong math skills and knowledge about science. At first he/she should been in a strong high school preparation in science mathematics and English, its courses should include four years of mathematics and English and at least one year chemistry and physics with lab. Also, mathematics courses should include geometry, trigonometry and algebra and if the student had not complete all the courses CSUN provides the opportunity to take courses to prepare for the major. After that there are two placement test to take mathematics placement test (MPT) and chemistry placement (CPT). We need to understand the forces and the thermal environment that a product, its parts, or its subsystems will encounter; to design them for functionality, aesthetics, and the ability to withstand the forces and the thermal environment they will be subjected to; and to determine the best way to manufacture them and ensure they will operate without failure. Perhaps the one skill that is the mechanical engineer’s exclusive domain is the ability to analyze and design objects and systems with motion. After, in depth in the major we will gain many new skills which will easily practice the major. Second, it’s going to need specific subject to complete it, in the first year it’s going to be the same subject for all engineering major after that it’s going to go deeper with mechanical subjects. Mechanical Engineering total required subjects in the major 99 units -47 for lower division and 52 for upper division- and 27 units for general education. The total units required for B.S degree is 126. If we take 32 units for each year we are going to graduate within four years.

            Graduate as a mechanical engineering from CSUN need at least four years to complete all the requirement subjects.  For the freshmen and sophomore they must take mathematics, chemistry, physics, computer programming, engineering materials, engineering mechanics, electrical systems, and mechanical design courses. All these courses will help the student and provide them with a width of knowledge that is necessary in some courses and in the career. Some subjects come in orders such as chemistry and engineering materials, it must be chemistry at the beginning and then engineering materials. After that junior year which will go deeper with engineering courses for example engineering economics and engineering dynamics. The last year will deepen upon group of required and elective courses for instance system dynamics and mechatronics and two semesters of senior design. In conclusion, he/she is going to get his/her degree with one major Mechanical Engineering. Within few changing for the graduating plan he/she can get double major; studying two majors at the same time and in the same college. There are only 2 conditions first the second major must require of least 30 units of additional non-over lapping course work. Second, the chairs of both departments offering the two major must sign the approval form; in other words it’s ok to take these two major together. Some people take Spanish or Physics with mechanical engineering; the total units for them should be around 140. Getting two degrees in the same time will help you a lot by giving you a knowledge, many job opportunities and having the two kind of major that you like.

            Engineering is a branch of science and technology concerned with building and design. And it’s divided into many areas such as Mechanical Engineering, chemical engineering, Architecture Engineering, and others. Each one contain a different requirement, but all of them share the same science subjects. Recently, engineering has taken our lives, it’s become a role to use every day. Anything we use we are using one of engineering products, anything we design we are getting inside engineering career. Mechanical Engineering is a most popular branch which easily attracts people’s attentions from its benefits. It's contains a good experience by dealing with machines and an amazing salary. Mechanical Engineering work begins from searching and designing until building and provide with power. During that it needs specific skills as being good at science, so the person who studying will be easier for him. Also, they need to have been taking science class at high school and taken several placement exams before interning at college. After passing all the requirement they will have an easy change plan about the order of taking the subjects.
