The 15th c. in the north of Europe, such as in Flanders, and France, saw artists observing the natural world with new eyes.  This was a huge break from the late medieval style.  Now artists there were seeing the real world, as with observation of nature, details, space, and light.  Choose a painting by Jan van Eyck or the Limbourg Brothers and describe this for us.  (For the Limborugs you can go online and see the entire Book  of Hours, Les Tres Riches Heuresonline- check out -February).  Make sure you always give the name of the painting, its artist, date and media.  (You may always do further research online for the work you choose, but then you must include the source)
