3.     Reader Response:  Make note of all the references to light and dark (not hard to find) in "Sonny's Blues."  Briefly discuss why you believe Baldwin uses light and dark to develop the story.  Be prepared to discuss your ideas in  class. (turn in)

4.   Reader Response:  "  Identify two examples of symbolism in "Shiloh" and briefly explain each examples contribution to the story.  Write a brief response in which you explore the importance of "identity" as a key idea in Shiloh. (turn in)
