Library Research Assignment

Identify a recent newsworthy case (one within the past 12 months) that involved an individual or family who has been involved with the helping professions and who you believe would be an appropriate referral to a helping professional. An example would be Nadya Sulman (identified by the media as "octomom") and Jon and Kate Gosselin from Jon and Kate Plus 8.

• State the factual situation of the newsworthy case that you chose.
• Defend your choice of this case.
• What interested you in this case?
• Identify and discuss which helping professionals are currently involved in the case and which helping professionals you believe ought to be involved in the case. Explain why.
• Of the helping professionals already involved in the newsworthy case that you chose, what core values were exhibited by the human service professional?
• Identify and discuss what core values were not displayed by the helping profession. Explain how this lack of exhibition of this core value positively or negatively affected the case.
