Write a 700- to 1,050-word paper in which you pick a minimum of five types of M&A's, such as horizontal, vertical, conglomerate, spin-off, divestiture, or carve-out. In the first part, define and paraphrase each type.

Search for at least one example of each M&A type that have occurred in the last three years.

Examine the following for each M&A you select:

• What are predominant issues driving a company's interest in pursuing M & A activities?
• What has been the total value of M&A activities in the two years?
• What were the values of each of the business combinations you discussed?
• Summarize trends for your five selected activities apparent from your research.
• Discuss any antitrust issues associated with your mergers
• Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the friendly versus hostile approach to a corporate takeover.
