Lead-in:

Personal and professional development is never finished.  This discussion requires you to dig into your own cultural competence and consider a plan to strengthen and develop any areas where you see a need. Ethical issues are an important part of those considerations regarding competence. Employing concepts from the models presented in your text may aid your thinking for this assignment.

To Prepare for the Assignment:

• Review Models from your required reading
• Complete required reading
• Consider personal strengths and weaknesses in cultural competence

With these thoughts in mind,

Post your primary response to DQ1 by Day 3: Briefly summarize your article from last week. Then provide a personal insight as a result of your research regarding an area of personal cultural competency that requires development. Be sure to include at least one ethical issue for development. Finally, how would you develop a plan to gain competence in the areas you identified using some of the concepts from one of the models noted in the textbooks?
