Read "The New Roles of the Human Resources Professional." The role of human resources has evolved from its traditional position of support to being a necessary entity of any organization. Forty years ago, HR was primarily "personnel," focusing on hiring only. Since then, HR has evolved to include all legal aspects of handling people-related issues, including leadership development, ADA, and succession planning. The role of human resources continues to evolve.
In your initial post for this discussion:
- Describe the three new roles of the human resources professional.
- Discuss your perception of the extent to which human resources plays these roles in your organization.
