1: An expression is numbers, variables, and operations that have a value. Equations are a pair of expressions, connected with an equals sign. The expressions on both sides of an equals sign have the same value. A function is a type of equation. A function: the value of a variable, such as f(x). Functions are like equations, but they are more to an input value with an output value. There can be one output value to one input value in functions.

 

Examples of each:

 

Expressions: 1+2, which has a value of 3, x+y, have a sum for the variables, and 6x, is a product of 6 and value of x.

 

Equations: x=7, x-y=12, and so on.

 

Functions: y=mx+b, f(x)=ax+b, so on

 

2:Very good response, but I have a question. Why is it that functions cannot be graphed but an equation can be graphed? Is it ever possible to graph a function, and if so, what do you need?

 

3:After reading Jeffrey's post and the differences he listed between expressions and equations, what is one thing that you would share with a student that is new to algebra to help them to know how to immediately determine if they are working with an expression or an equation?

DSU or data service unit is used to protect and diagnose functions for telecommunications needed at both ends of the T1 or T3 node connection.  The DSU is the hardware between the CSU and the computer.
