Disease
Some diseases are preventable while others are not, but can be managed. Then, there are some diseases that can be both managed and prevented. This assignment will cover the prevention and/or management of chronic and infectious diseases.
Part I: Chronic Disease Prevention and/or Management
Four main types of chronic diseases are discussed in your text (genetic, metabolic, autoimmune, and degenerative). Select two conditions from each chronic disease type and provide the following information:
- A brief description of the condition
- Preventative measures (if applicable) and specific examples
- Management measures with specific examples
Of the two conditions, select one that you are familiar with and one that you are not familiar with. Research and provide evidence of the effectiveness of the suggested preventative measures. Use at least one source from the Ashford University Library.
Part II: Infectious Disease Prevention and/or Management
In your own words, describe both the transmission pathways of infectious diseases and the basic immune response. Select three infectious diseases and map out the transmission pathway, identify the point(s) to intervene with prevention measures, describe the prevention measures, and discuss management of the disease if not prevented.
Your assignment must be three to four pages in length, and must include a minimum of three scholarly sources. At least one of these sources must come from the Ashford University Library. Please indicate which database the sources were retrieved from by including “Retrieved from the ________ database.” at the end of the reference.
