Tracey, the essay is outstanding. Now can we consider that it might be a bit more complex to deal with males ad feamles differently under FMLA. Also if the female is asking for 16 weeks and not just the protected 12, what will you do? Why is the demand of the male less valued than the female? What kinds of major medical protections might be offered to both employees? What would you exactly offer the female who is pregnant since she is asking for more than FMLA covers? Where do short term disabilities, comp time, PTO and sick leave come into the process and consideration? Remember if you offer something to one, you must be prepared to offer it to all. New thoughts?
