Class,
One issue that the regulatory agencies are concerned with are patient falls. Patient Falls are a classic issue in quality and safety that a regulatory agency would be investigating. Nobody (& I mean nobody) has been able to solve this problem. Hourly rounding, toileting, frequent checks, bed and chair alarms, etc and we still cannot find a true solution to this major safety issue. I once injured my back very badly and the patient broke his leg when I tried to catch him from a fall.
How would you as a leader deal with the issue of falls (this is not a clinical question, but a leadership question)?
Does anyone realize the detrimental effects of workplace injuries? The costs, the staffing issues, the social/psychological aspects, etc....
