1.      As the video titled “Melissa Forman – Hilarious Resume Typos” (4 min 55 s) located at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FClWySJ6Sxs demonstrates it is very important to avoid mistakes when writing resumes and cover letters. Think back over your background and job history. What types of messaging have you used that are related to “finding” and “obtaining” employment? Some examples may include: job application cover letters, thank you notes, job-acceptance letters, recommendation requests, and others. Based on the video you watched, determine what the protocol is in your field or area of interest, and ascertain what makes an effective messaging tool. Please share relevant experiences / anecdotes from your work life.

"Criminal Activities of Gangs and Terrorism"  Please respond to the following:

 

2.      From the first e-Activity, use Table 19.2 “Definitional Characteristics of Gangs” in Chapter 19 of the textbook and diagnose whether or not the city you selected is recognized as a city with a gang problem. Next, suggest one (1) additional criterion (in addition to the definitional characteristics of gangs in Table 19.2) that can be used to judge the existence of a gang within a city. Provide a rationale to support your response.

 

 

 

From the second e-Activity, discuss the impact that the 9/11 commission report had on FBI and CIA regarding their counterterrorism activities (e.g. the investigative techniques before and after September 11th, 2001). Provide a rationale to support your response.

The city I selected is not recognized with a gang problem. One additional criterion I would suggest to judge the existence of a gang within a city is homicides. If a city’s crime rate has been low or focused on one area such as drug trafficking or prostitution, but all of sudden there are homicides taken place I believe this would be a red flag. Most gangs usually fight over territory, so they may attack other gang members of other gangs to send a message or retaliation.

 

The 9/11 commission report had a major impact on the FBI and CIA in regards to counterterrorism activities. This report helped both agencies to start working together and help them prioritize their investigation after an attack has taken place. In the beginning the FBI had poor information systems which had limited them to the access needed to identify potential suspects or possibly missing clues in documentation where suspects moved under the radar. Also, across the agencies were poor work related relationships where they limited access information to one another. In turn, this could have cost a lot of innocent lives. With these reports, it gave the FBI and CIA better strategies on how to counterattack potential suspects and possibly analyze the next move of a terrorist’s organization or cells within the group.

3.      Chapter 13 of the course textbook is dedicated to the discussion of organizational effectiveness. In your own words, define organizational effectiveness and how it is measured?

 

This week, let us continue with the interview scenario. It is said that you should never leave an interview without asking at least one question of your interviewers. This week, identify three questions you would ask during your interview. Would the answer to those questions from the interviewers change your thoughts about working for the organization?

In my own words, organizational effectiveness is defined when an organization meets its ultimate mission and goal. Organizational effectiveness involves proper training, effective communication, and team work. It can be measured through ratings, surveys, data, etc. How it is measured is based on whether or not the organization is been effective. Effectiveness shows work, dedication, and manifestation. Its something that you can see happening before your very eyes and getting good feedback.
