To prepare for this Discussion: 

• Review the same article you were assigned to last week. For example, if you were assigned to Article A last week, continue with Article A this week. (Remember also to review the article to which you were not assigned so that you can respond effectively to one colleague who read the other article.)
  
• Review Chapter 2 and pp. 79–87 of Chapter 4 in the course text, Research Design and the "Literature Review" media segment.
  
• Review the annotated journal article "Examining Contextual Factors in the Career Decision Status of African American Adolescents," which is annotated to reveal how the literature is used.
  
• Look to the Use of Literature Checklist for more guidance in analyzing and evaluating the author's use of literature in your assigned article.
• Locate where in each article that the literature is used. For example, is it used as background, in a literature review, or in the conclusion? Why is the literature located in a particular part of the article?
• Determine if the literature is used to introduce a problem or a theory, or to direct readers to the research questions and hypotheses.
  
• Evaluate the use of literature in each article.

Post a 2- to 3-paragraph analysis and evaluation of the author's use of literature in your assigned research article.
