Discussion #1:

TWO (2) posts are required for each discussion forum. Try to make your first initial post (response to the discussion question) by Saturday and your next posts (response to other students' posts) by Sunday.

Directions: 

A) After reading Chapters 1 and 2 and watching the video on the Healthcare System of the United States answer the following questions below. The minimum word count for both responses (total) to the discussion board question(s) should be 400 words or more (excluding reinstatement of the discussion board questions and references).

Chapter 1: An Overview of US Health Care Delivery 

1. As a future Health Services administrator you are interested in different public health initiatives the CDC has put forth over the years and whether they have been successful. You continue to hear the term "Healthy People report". You are interested in the results of these reports. 

-Visit the CDC website (www.cdc.gov) and discuss on the Healthy People initiative. 

-Discuss whether or not you think the Healthy People initiatives are successful initiatives. 

- A minimum of one reference is required to support your response to the discussion question and reply to a classmate. You may cite the course required textbook and or other sources in which you have used content from. Make sure your references are in APA format.  

Chapter 2: Beliefs, Values, and Health 

2.  Perform an internet search (do not use Investopedia or Wikipedia) and find a current event topic(2016 or 2017) that relates to this chapter. 

-Provide a summary of the article and the link to the article (APA format). 

-Discuss how the article relates to the chapter 

- A minimum of one reference is required to support your response to the discussion question and reply to a classmate. You may cite the course required textbook and or other sources in which you have used content from. Make sure your references are in APA format. 

B) Reply to a classmate: Respond to one classmate post by including a respectful substantial response that includes supportive facts and details. Minimum of 150 words or more (excluding references). The responses to your classmate’s postings should actively stimulate and sustain further discussion by building on peers'  responses including:

— Classmate by name
— building a focused argument around a specific issue or 
— asking a new related question or 
— making an oppositional statement supported by personal experience or related research.

— a minimum of one reference to your classmates posting. You may cite the course required textbook and or other sources in which you have used content from. Make sure your references are in APA format. 

 Discussion Board Grading Criteria:

Thoroughly answered the question(s): 50 points are possible. A thorough answer will consist of complete sentences, and will address the question while drawing from the text or other credible source. A post that only has one-two sentences is not thorough and does not earn 50 points. Original post to the discussion question must be posted by Sunday 11:59pm(est) of each week.

Correct APA formatted references: 10 points are possible. Please use your text (when it applies to a discussion) or any other credible reference to support your answers, and be sure to cite your sources correctly, following APA guidelines.

Responded to ONE classmate: 30 points are possible. Your responses must be respectful, substantial (include supporting details and facts), and will address your classmate by name. Try having a spirit of inquiry, and feel free to ask questions to further your understanding of the post or to promote further discussion. In addition, make sure you support your response by using references. Your post must be a substantial and posted by Sunday 11:59pm(est) to receive the 30 points.
