Discussion for Marketing - Sustainability

Write 1-2 paragraphs for a discussion post.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says "Sustainability is important to making sure that we have and will continue to have the water, materials, and resources to protect human health and our environment."

For your discussion:

1. Identify a company that has made a supply chain decision designed to increase sustainability. What action was taken? What was the result?
2. If you were the operations manager for that company, what additional steps would you take to increase sustainability?

Remember, our focus is on sustainability within the supply chain(not general sustainability efforts). Here are a few examples to get you thinking about supply chain examples:

• A company determines a way to re-purpose waste from one of its processes so that it no longer needs to be disposed.
• A company figures out that a small modification to the design of its shipping cartons will enable more cartons to fit on a truck, decreasing the number of trucks needed.
• A company adds recycled materials to its packaging.
