Original Post (option 1): Discuss the development of Booker T. Washington’s views on blacks and education.  Would you consider his philosophy realistic, taking into account what was going on in the South at the time?  How did some black leaders criticize him?

Original Post (option 2): Discuss the role of blacks in the military during the late nineteenth century.  Why didn't most black soldiers openly object to fighting and subjugating other People of Color at this time?  What does this tell you about black soldiers ideas about military service/ideas about citizenship/ideas about People of Color of various backgrounds and nationalities?
