As we discussed on Monday, July 6, our personal brands must be cultivated and protected, because they project an image of ourselves to others. Recently, businessman Donald Trump announced his candidacy for the 2016 Republican Presidential nomination and made these comments:

"When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. ... They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists."

Many individuals and groups condemned these comments, and they called on companies to cut ties with Trump and his interests. Read the linked article from the Los Angeles Times, " Another company dumps Trump as controversy threatens to bite into his brand "

1. Explain how these comments have hurt Donald Trump's brand.
2. Discuss whether you think Donald Trump's freedom of speech has been violated by these calls for companies to cut ties with him.
