This chapter discusses learning, including classical and operant conditioning.  Punishment is a component of Operant Conditioning.  In this week’s discussion, you’ll be sharing your opinions on the use of punishing children.  Punishment is a controversial subject so please be respectful in your comments and responses.   

Write a paragraph expressing your views/opinions/values on moral development.  Think about your perspectives on the use of punishment on teaching children.  Use the following questions to guide your writing:

·         What kinds of punishments did you receive growing up? 

·         What forms/types of punishment do you believe would be most effective to achieve the type of behavior you want from your children?

·         Is it okay to use physical punishment (such as spanking)? 

·         How does your background impact your values on punishment?

Now find another student who has a different opinion on physical punishment than you.  Respond to their post.  Try to understand why their perspective may be different than yours.
