NEW BOARD BASED OFF OLD WORK ON BOTTOM

Using the Trompenaars national management dimensions of culture, you will conduct and discuss a comparative analysis of 3 foreign nations and the USA.

The Discussion Board Forum assignment consists of 2 parts.

Thread

Using the same nations you selected for Discussion Board Forum 5, compare the dimensions of national management cultures with the Trompenaars dimensions of management cultures identified in the USA.

The rationale behind Discussion Board Forum 6 is for you, as a graduate-level student, to build on Discussion Board Forum 5 work. In Discussion Board Forum 5, you were given a specific website to conduct the Hofstede. No such corresponding website exists for the Trompenaars Analysis. The challenge here for you as the researcher is to be able to take the information from Discussion Board Forum 5 and use what you have learned regarding the Trompenaars Analysis and come up with a similar analysis on your part. This requires skill and competency as a graduate-level student, and the challenge is the entire rationale behind the Discussion Board Forum 6 deliverable.

Your thread must be placed in the Discussion Board text box and adhere precisely to the following headings and format:

SECTION 2: Analysis of Section I Results

1.      How do the dimensions of management culture of the 3 foreign nations differ from each other?

The outstanding difference between the three nations is that while India and Philippines have characteristically low LTO index, China has a very high score. This means the Chinese residents accept the delayed gratification to maiden material, social, and emotional needs without questioning. In China, conflicts between channel members are often suppressed unlike in Philippines. India’s LTO value is in between that of Philippines and that of China meaning it experiences a blend of the culture at china and Philippines

2.      How do the dimensions of management culture of the 3 foreign nations differ from the USA?

From the data, it can be seen that the PDI of United States of America is very low. This means that residents in the United States of America generally enjoy a better distribution of power. Residents of America have the desirable opportunity to rise in society since the gap between the wealthy and the poor is small. On the other hand, USA shows exceptionally high Individualism Index (IDV) while China shows the lowest IDV index. It can be seen people in the USA have a society with loose ties between individuals and each citizen is expected to take care of themselves and their family while the exact opposite is witnessed in China. USA enjoys individualism while China experiences collectivism.

3.      How are the dimensions of management culture of the 3 foreign nations similar to each other?

The PDI for the three nations are extremely high. The PDI index is the highest for Philippines followed by China and India but India has the lowest PDI of the three nations. However, the PDI values are very high. This means people in these nations are less powerful whether they are members of organizations or institutions and universally agree and accept that power is unequally distributed. Inequality is deeply rooted in the way the society operates.

4.      How are the dimensions of management culture of the 3 foreign nations similar to the USA?

All countries score average in terms of uncertainty voidance index. This means the four nations have a fair degree of taking up new ideas, advances in technology, innovative products. In addition, the willingness to try something new is low across the four nations. The citizens of these countries tend to be tolerant of opinions and ideas and usually have substantial freedom of speech and expression.  Their cultures are also characterized by self independence and have the ability to control themselves without the need of a lot of rules and show low levels of emotional expressiveness.
