Discussion Assignment - Negotiation Scenario

Given the following scenario explain what you might do to negotiate and resolve the situation below:

You have lived in your neighborhood for five years. Your neighbors are a young African American family that has recently moved in from New York. You and your neighbor have a dispute over your property line. For weeks you have not spoken and recently rumors have circulated accusing you of being racist, since you are white. 

Your neighbors then planted a tree along the property line that they believe to be correct. You have survey information that indicates the actual property line is five feet further inside the point the neighbor placed their trees.

Explain what you would do to resolve this conflict and the strategies you are most likely to use. Be sure to give reasons why you would choose the strategy you have.
