When the layman thinks of corrosion, the first thing imagined is a brown, crusty appearance such as that commonly appearing in iron and steel.  This is called rust.  However, in today’s aircraft most material is aluminum.  This means corrosion takes a different form. This document analyzes the corrosion in AlClad Aluminum 2024-T3.
