Discussion 8 History

You will have to research other movements from Modern American History for this topic, which is the following: Was the American Indian Movement (AIM) in the 1970's similar to the Civil Rights Movement or the Black Panther Movement? Why? (Please make sure that your answer addresses the 1st Objective for this module.)

Recommendation: Lakota Woman, which is a book written by (then) Mary Crow Dog. I read this book in graduate school. This is a true story and it will add to your knowledge of many things, including Native American activism during the 1970's and accounts of violence against native women on and off reservations. I really can't recommend this book highly enough. It's not a long or complicated read, and it had a powerful impact upon me.
