Consider some of the reasons presented in the assigned reading for which different disease conditions vary in prevalence and incidence by person, place, and time. Along these lines, it is well established that the occurrence of multiple sclerosis (MS) follows a north-to-south gradient in the northern hemisphere (i.e. higher rates in northern latitudes), and a south-to-north gradient in the southern hemisphere, with MS being much less common in people living near the equator.

As an apprentice epidemiologist in training, provide a 1-2 sentence hypothesis or explanation that you believe could be contributing to the variation of MS by place. There are no "right" or "wrong" responses.   After posting your response, provide a thoughtful response to 2 to 3 other students' posts.   I look forward to your responses.
