DISCUSSION 1 :Retention- Recognition
DUE WEDNESDAY BY 9PM NEW YORK TIME 1 PAGE APA FORMAT WITH IN-TEXT CITATIONS AND REFERENCES TO UPLOADED RESOURCES AND LINK
Customizing recognition and appreciation strategies requires an understanding of board members’ and nongoverning volunteers’ motivations. Many volunteers find dedication to mission personally fulfilling and a powerful motivator. Positively reinforcing that dedication, as well as acknowledging skills, work, time, and personal commitment has been shown to increase the longevity of a volunteer’s commitment. Others enjoy taking part in recognition events, receiving a plaque, getting a certificate of appreciation, etc. Some volunteers find that a simple “thank you” note is enough to feel appreciated. Whether tangible or intangible, it is important to find meaningful ways to recognize and thank both board members and nongoverning volunteers for the important work they perform.
