There is no universal agreed-upon definition of “gang” in this country. Gangs, whether youth gangs, street gangs, female gangs, or adult male gangs are terms often interchangeably used in mainstream coverage. While reading the text, you will learn that motorcycle gangs, prison gangs, hate groups, adult organized crime groups, terrorist organizations and other types of security threats are frequently treated separately from gangs in both practice and research.
