All professional law enforcement agencies conduct a variety of background checks prior to hiring a candidate. If you accept the statement that "past performance is the best predictor of future behavior" then what is your opinion on how much weight should Departments place on an applicants pas employment history and performance? In other words, if the applicant has been fired from previous jobs for failing to show up for work, or for getting into a loud confrontation with a supervisor, should that be considered in a department's hiring decision?
