Development of Civilization in Mesopotamia

This is a writing and research assignment. Your assignment is to research what "civilization" means and what are the keys or certain developments that define a culture as a civilization. You can find this information in the textbook, online, and from the mini-lecture.

At that point, you should take this information and write a well developed essay considering these keys of civilization and how they apply to Mesopotamia. In other words, exactly what things happened in Mesopotamia that changed it from a culture to a civilization. Focus on four things in writing an essay. 1. Thesis-the point you are trying to prove. 2. Content-this is the historical information that you should use to back up your thesis. 3. Analysis- this is the commentary where you demonstrate the links between the information you have included and your point. 4. and mechanics of writing- spelling, grammar, punctuation all of these add to the overall essay in terms of how well you convey your point.
