Developing Standards of Practice can involve a multidisciplinary team consisting of experts of the field of nursing.  These experts contribute ideas and determining what is a safe standard for all nurses.  It is a lot of responsibility to take on such standards.  Understanding that these standards are ever changing and may need revision in the future.  The standards should be reviewed, revised, and resubmitted to the ANA at least every 5 years or more often if needed.(Bickford, Finnell, McLaughlin, Nehring, Thomas, 2015) The ultimate goal of these standards are to help nurses practice safer.
