Decision Analysis Paper

During weeks 8, 9 & 10 you will be working on the final project.  Week 10 builds on weeks 8 and 9.  Week 9 builds on week 8.  Please refer to the syllabus and rubric for more information.  Here's some highlights:

Final Project: Decision Analysis Paper, Part 1 Final Project Overview 

The Final Project for this course involves a decision problem that matters to you. This problem must be identified, defined, articulated, and solved. You will submit a 10-page Decision Analysis Paper by Day 7 of Week 10.

Week 8

For this week’s Assignment, write a 2- to 4-page paper that identifies an important decision you need to make. It can be a decision associated with your doctoral program, your dissertation research, your work, your family, your community, or any other area of your life.

Include in your paper the following:

• A description of the decision you need to make

• A description of the stakeholders involved

• A description of the decision environment

• An explanation of whether this is an individual or group decision

Submit your paper by Day 7

Week 9

Final Project: Decision Analysis Paper, Part 2

Write a 4- to 6-page paper, revising and refining the one you submitted in Week 8.

In this paper,

• • also determine “states of nature” with corresponding likelihoods,

• • as well as potential alternative solutions to the problem,

• • and the utility or payoff associated with each alternative.

• • Provide a decision tree that captures your decision problem.  (no handwritten decision trees)

Submit your paper by Day 7.

Week 10

Final Project: Decision Analysis Paper, Part 3: Complete and Submit Final Paper

This week, you will complete and submit your Final Project.

In Weeks 8 and 9, you formulated the decision problem.

This week, you will complete your paper by solving the decision problem and providing recommendations for communicating and executing the decision.

• • Write an 8- to 10-page paper, revising and refining the one you submitted in Week 9,

• • that solves the decision problem

• •  and provides recommended alternatives.

• • This week, to complete your paper, be sure to include a plan for communicating and executing the decision.

Submit your paper by Day 7.

Please submit only the items that are due for each week.  Each week has a specific number of points possible so the only way you will receive points for each week is if you submit the appropriate assignment sections.  For week 9, you will add the week 9 requirements to the week 8 paper (plus any revisions that are needed).  For week 10, you will add the week 10 requirements to the week 8 and week 9 requirements.  It is necessary to follow APA.  

The final paper should be organized as follows - week 8, week 9 and then week 10.  Please make sure you incorporate relevant sources.
