you should have a narrowed topic that looks interesting and promising to you – though of course, you may still view your topic as tentative and may decide to change your topic later - that is fine. You should also have a feel for the purpose of the study. Don’t worry about a title; we’ll write one later on. For now, you need a research proposal that sets forth these essential parts:
- Background (provide an overview of your topic) – 1 paragraph
- The purpose of the paper (explain, analyze, or argue) – also see the “Checklist” on page 31 in our text (WRP) – 1 paragraph
- Research Plan (Where will you search for information? What types of sources will be beneficial? Will you start with a list of key words?) – 1 paragraph
- Your thesis statement
Your preliminary thesis statement is not your conclusion; it merely points the critical direction of your study.
Submit your paper through the assignment portal opened on Canvas - documents should be submitted in PDF, DOC, DOCX formats only.
