jdmvinThe maximum size of the Layer 2 frame has become a source of inefficiency in terms of modern wide area network (WAN) speeds, which have increased some 400 times over those prevailing when Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) was first introduced as a protocol. One solution to this problem is known as WAN acceleration, which uses oversized frames at Layer 2 to increase network throughput.
