•Algeria has a rich art, literary and music history that spans centuries.

•Chaabi music is a typical musical genre that originated from Algeria. There are other genres like folk music with famous composers like Souad Massi. Modern contemporary music is also taking root with genres such as rap and Rai music which is a style emulating the western aspect of Algeria.

•Albert Camus is an Algerian born pied-Noir author who won the coveted Nobel Prize in literature. There has been a shift in the writing since independence with a crop of new writers who, through their works, try to highlight the various social problems among them Leila Sebbar and Tahir Wattar. 

•The country has a rich cuisine that is diverse in selection and offering ranging from meat, fish and vegetables with a presence of cereals in every dish because of their abundance in the country.
