Critical thinking discussion board question

Need short paragraph to answer this question for discussion board.

So if critical thinking does have all the advantages Bassham indicates in Chapter I, why, in fact, do we - including those of us seriously committed to the idea of critical thinking - so often fall short (that is, fail to judge and act consistently in accord with critical thinking principles)?
