Critical Thinking and Reflection
After reading Chapters Nine and Eleven of our text, Literacy: Helping Students Construct Meaning, you will use specific and current examples from your experience, the course text, and other scholarly sources, to respond to the following in a one to two page paper.
- Explain the difference between remediation and intervention. Provide an example of when it would be appropriate to use each of these strategies.
- Discuss why it is important to plan core curriculum for struggling readers.
- Produce at least two examples of the characteristics of an effective lesson for a struggling reader.
- Demonstrate how teachers who have no extra assistance in their classroom can meet the needs of struggling readers, using at least three examples.
Your paper must be one to two pages not including the title or reference pages. It must be written in APA format per the Ashford Writing Center Guidelines. Include at least one scholarly resource, in addition to the course text, for a total of at least two scholarly sources.
