This course began with an introduction to globalization; we read Wallerstein, Harvey, Barber, Sen, etc., and the pros and cons of globalization. Thereafter, the syllabus was divided into three units: 1) globalization of culture 2) global environmentalism and 3) global justice/anti-globalization.
Choose two concepts or terms from two different units and describe the significant ideas you learned from each unit. First, explain what is meant by the term (2-3 sentences); second, establish the context in which the term is used (3-4 sentences); third, explain its relevance to the assigned category and to globalization (3-4 sentences).
Unit 1: Culture

Unit 2: Environmentalism
Non-state environmental politics; transnational activists; ecological sensibility; non-violent action (Wapner); Navdanya; corporate hybrid seeds; industrial agriculture vs. traditional farming (Shiva); “demand is god”; deregulated corporate globalization (Shrivastava and Kothari 135); GMO seeds (Shrivastava and Kothari 155).
Unit 3: Global Justice/Anti-Globalization
